"Almost every country in the world has a tradition of weaving. Though no one knows for sure how the art of weaving cloth was developed, it has often been surmised that weaving followed basket making in the evolution of craft. Early people commonly wove grasses, reeds, and bark into vessels for carrying things. It was only a short stretch for someone to figure out that using pieces of twisted wool or hair instead of grass would yield a product that would be flexible and could be fashioned into garments."
