We built our floor loom using the highest quality hard rock maple and featuring an innovative tie-up system, using “snap chains” instead of cords and knots, or wires that can fall out. The tie-up is quick, simple and secure for any treadle to harness combination. Our looms are designed with a friction brake for excellent tension control and an adjustable beater to accommodate reeds of different heights and widths. The suspended harnesses make the jack-action light, quiet, smooth and rhythmical.
The Model L8 weaves a full 45 inches and comes with 8 harnesses and 10 treadles. The L8 is for the weaver who is looking for wider weaving widths, complex weave structures, and a lasting studio loom. It combines the simple and intuitive design of our portable floor looms with the added sturdiness of our rug loom. The innovative and customizable breast and warp tubes are easily removable and offer increased stability when in place.
The loom folds conveniently without removing hardware and allows the back of the loom to fold completely against the castle. Unlike most looms, our floor looms are easily folded while fully warped, leaving the tie-up intact. The Model L is our first loom to include a tensioning system modeled after our unique Tensioning Device. It allows for more or less drag depending on the warp requirements and results in perfect tension every time. The L8 is beautifully hand crafted in New Hampshire and is designed to be a permanent studio fixture. This loom ships assembled.
