As in the beginning weaving workshop, you’ll be provided with sample ideas, designs, a pre-warped loom, yarn, and the full array of Navajo weaving tools needed to successfully weave a rug that measures approximately 6.5" high x 8.5" wide from start to finish. You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for Navajo weavers and the Navajo culture, along with a beautifully woven rug of your own, and a printed booklet.

Navajo looms for each class are situated atop tables and are adjustable. The Navajo looms and tools you’ll be provided in class are available for purchase afterwards. No outside looms allowed please.

Skill Level: Advanced beginner. This intermediate workshop requires previous Beginning Navajo tapestry weaving experience. *Navajo techniques require long periods of intense physical stamina. Anyone suffering from arthritis, back or neck issues, should contact HD before registering to ensure this class is appropriate.

*If you reserve a room in the Boarding House, your room fee is due at the end of your stay. Please scroll down to read more important information about the Cheshire Mills Boarding House.

Her father, Sam Teller, worked at the Two Grey Hills Trading Post in New Mexico, where she was raised with her two sisters and two brothers. The Two Grey Hills style is identified primarily by a double-diamond layout, intricate geometric design using natural colored, hand carded and hand spun wool as well as high weft counts. About Our Workshops

Nestled in the heart of a historic textile village, workshops at Harrisville Designs take place in the Bethuel Harris Mill. Built in the 1830s as a spinning mill for locally raised wool and located at the end of the canal, it originally operated on water power. Today, it’s home to our first-floor retail store and spacious second-floor workshop studio. Year after year students are greeted by sunlit windows, fresh air, and tranquil views of the mill pond and preserved industrial brick buildings.

Workshops vary in skill levels and lengths. Enrollment is limited to ensure each student is immersed in the atmosphere of a working studio rather than a classroom. Most scheduled classes meet from 9 am to 4 pm; however, the studio is open to students 24 hours a day while their class is in session. Looms are provided in the weaving classes, and woolen yarn and other materials are included unless otherwise noted in the materials lists online. While taking a class, students receive a 10% discount on HD items in our store, including looms! (Excludes sale and consignment items)
