The Cheshire Mills Boarding House was built in 1853 and provided housing for the workers of the mill for over 100 years. We offer economical housing for nine students on the third floor. There are three single rooms and three double rooms. There is also a large living room and dining area where students often gather in the evening, plus a full kitchen and two bathrooms. There are air conditioners. (We apologize, there is no elevator.) You can get towels, sheets, and pillowcases for an extra $15 (order ahead) or you can bring your own. Pillows and blankets are provided.
There is a local Bed and Breakfast in Harrisville, as well as other places to stay in the village and nearby towns. There are many motels and campgrounds in the area as well.
Harrisville is a small village (pop. 1200) that has a post office and a general store/cafe across the street from the studio. Keene and Peterborough, both about 12 miles away, offer a good variety of restaurants and stores.
We are located in the southwestern corner of NH off route 101 between Keene and Peterborough. We are approximately 2 hours from Boston, MA and Hartford, CT and 4 hours from New York City and Montreal. Our closest airport is in Manchester, NH (MHT) which is about a one hour car ride. You can rent a car at the airport or call us for information on transportation.
