Oct 14 (Thurs, 9-4)
(only for students who have purchased or brought Navajo looms)
Join Barbara and Lynda on a journey of discovery. This are unique workshops taught by two sisters who will not only teach you how to weave using the authentic Navajo tapestry techniques, they will also share their way of life and Navajo traditions. Ideally students will be able to finish their rugs in class. Students will start weaving on pre-warped looms, so weaving begins immediately. The rug size is approximately 6.5" wide by 8.5" high. Barbara and Lynda will bring some sample designs, along with all the Navajo weaving tools needed for beginning and finishing.
The looms for this class are on tables and are adjustable. Looms and tools are available for use in class and for purchase. At the end of class, each student keeps their woven rug and a printed booklet.
Skill Level: The first workshops are for beginners, no experience necessary. The intermediate and advanced workshops require tapestry weaving experience and warping knowledge.
in our store, including our floor looms.
We were very disappointed to have to cancel all of our workshops in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are hopeful that in 2021 we can begin the road back to our normal series. To that end this year, we are offering fewer work- shops, with fewer students per workshop and limiting the number of people who can stay in our Boarding House. We will be strictly observing all Covid protocols to ensure your safety and the safety of our teachers and staff. We don’t know at this point if masks will still be required, but if they are, we will have plenty of masks available. There will also be lots of hand sanitizer and disinfec- tant sprays. We are hopeful that our classes will take place, and we look forward to seeing you. Stay safe!
