Harrisville, New Hampshire is a village whose tradition in textiles dates back more than two hundred years. We are continuing that tradition at Harrisville Designs by manufacturing high-quality yarns, looms, and accessories. In addition, since 1971 we have sponsored workshops to give students the opportunity to study with exceptional instructors in the relaxed atmosphere of this unique village.
Workshops and Classes
Our workshops are held at the Harrisville Designs Retail Store in the Harris Mill which sits at the end of the canal overlooking the mill pond and originally operated on water power. This beautiful brick building was built in the 1830's as a spinning mill for locally raised wools and now houses our retail shop on the first floor and provides excellent studio space for our students on the second floor. It is relished for its sunlit windows, fresh air, and tranquility. In order to create the atmosphere of a working studio rather than a classroom, we limit enrollment in our workshops. Classes meet daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; however, the air-conditioned studio is open to students 24 hours a day. During the week, students will have the opportunity to tour our spinning mill and listen to a talk on the history of Harrisville while picnicking next to the mill pond.
