Gansey Knitting and Design with Donna Kay
Gansey Knitting and Design
September 30 – Oct 4 (Mon – Fri)
Inspired by the beautiful Dutch and British ganseys, designer, Donna Kay created this workshop for the knitter who wants to learn the techniques needed to knit a traditional fisherman’s gansey. Traditional stitch patterns and construction techniques as well as planning and customizing a garment will all be explored as well as the historic component, garment construction and use of traditional stitch patterns. The class project will be creating your own sweater design or using one of Donna’s designs and by the end of the class you will be ready to take home your partially knitted sweater and you will have the confidence to finish it.
Proficiency Level: Open to knitters with some experience who are comfortable with circular and/or double-point needles.
