Playing with Blocks
Dishtowels are a satisfying means of exploring weave structures, being both a useful size and quick to set up. In this class, we will explore different kinds of block threadings. Block threadings make possible larger design elements. Examples are twill blocks, lace weaves, and Ms and Os. Color and weave effects can also be thought of in terms of blocks. We will dress looms with six different warps, and students will weave 3-4 dishtowels on the common warps. Students may also design and wind a warp to take home and weave. We will be using cotton for this class, all materials are included.
Skill Level: Students will need to know how to wind a warp and dress a floor loom.
